World War History: There have been many wars in the world, some of which were about empire and some about one’s honour. But among all these wars, if there was one war that crossed all limits of cruelty, then it was the Second World War that took place in the year 1939. In this war, the lives of crores of people were lost.
The whole world was divided into two parts
The Second World War started in the year 1939. At this time the whole world was divided into two parts. On one side were the Allied nations, which included France, Great Britain, America, Soviet Union and China. On the other side were the Axis powers, which included Germany, Italy and Japan. This war is the longest war in history, which lasted for 6 years. Although no war starts suddenly, the seeds for this war were being sown for a long time.
Japan attacks China
In 1937, Japan, one of the Axis powers, attacked China over the Marco Polo Bridge incident and captured Beijing. The Soviet Union supported China in this attack by Japan, but later, in this small war, China lost Beijing as well as Shanghai. To expand its empire, Japan killed millions of civilians as well as unarmed soldiers.
Germany attacks Poland
The war between China and Japan was still going on when Germany attacked Poland in 1939, after which France issued an order to attack Germany. After this announcement, other Commonwealth countries along with England came forward to support France. In this war, Germany gradually captured a large part of Europe between 1939 and 1941. Along with this war, war broke out between other countries as well. Although the war was only between these famous countries, but the whole world was badly affected by this war.
More than 70 countries were affected
More than 70 countries were affected in this Second World War. 10 crore soldiers participated in this war which lasted for so many years. Out of which 6 to 7 crore soldiers lost their lives. This war ended when America carried out a nuclear attack on the Japanese cities named Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The date of this attack was 6 August and 9 August 1945. Many people died in this attack. The nuclear attack carried out by America was so powerful that its effect can be seen in Hiroshima and Nagasaki even today.
Indian soldiers were also fighting
After this attack, the war was formally declared over on 2 September. Many Indian soldiers were also involved in this war. When the war started causing devastation, more than 25 lakh Indian soldiers continued fighting across the world. Out of which, news of the death of more than 87 thousand soldiers came to light, apart from this, many soldiers also went missing.
The rise of militarism in Germany and Japan
There were many major reasons for the Second World War. The major reasons among them were the harsh conditions of the Treaty of Versailles that came into force after the First World War, economic recession, policy of appeasement, rise of militarism in Germany and Japan, failure of the League of Nations, etc. The rise of militarism in Japan started increasing rapidly after the First Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905.
After this war, Japan understood the importance of the military and started moving towards militarism. Apart from this, the feeling of nationalism in Japan also encouraged militarism. Militarism also arose in Germany, which included fear of the Bolsheviks, economic crisis and feeling of nationalism.
Hitler’s invasion of Poland
Hitler had many reasons for attacking Poland. The first and most important reason was that he considered the German nation superior and felt that it had the right to control the world. Secondly, Hitler needed neglected areas to improve Germany’s economy. Thirdly, Hitler believed that he could achieve his objectives by using Poland’s political and social situation.
