Wrestlers Allegations Government Of India Sent Notice To WFI Says Sports Minister Anurag Thakur


Anurag Thakur On Wrestlers Allegations: Wrestlers made serious allegations against the President of Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Since then the atmosphere has been hot. Now the reaction of Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has come on this matter. He has said that the government has taken immediate action on the allegations of wrestlers and has given notice to the Federation.

Talking to reporters in Chandigarh after the wrestlers sat on strike, Anurag Thakur said that taking cognizance of the allegations made are serious, the Sports Ministry has given a notice to the WFI and sought a reply within 72 hours. The camp which was to be held has been postponed. It is my endeavor that I will go back and meet the players. And, appropriate action will be taken.

‘Will meet the players’

Keeping his point, the Sports Minister said that he is here now and will meet the players as soon as he goes to Delhi. He said, “The players will be heard. Very serious allegations have been made by the players. We are leaving all our programs and going back to Delhi and will meet the players”. The minister said that he will be heard and then further action will be taken. Anurag Thakur said that we are engaged for sports and players.

What is the matter?

30 wrestlers including star wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik are protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since January 18. These wrestlers have accused Indian Wrestling Association President Brij Bhushan Singh and several coaches of sexual harassment. After these allegations and demonstrations, today a meeting was also held between the Sports Ministry and the wrestlers. However, the protesting wrestlers were not satisfied with this conversation and have said to continue the strike till justice is served.
