Yashasvi Jaiswal, India vs West Indies: The Indian team for the Test and ODI series was announced on 23 June for the West Indies tour. Young left-handed batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal has also got a place in the team for the 2-match Test series. Jaiswal was added to the team as a reserve player in the World Test Championship (WTC) final match. Now after being selected in the Test team, Yashasvi has spoken openly about his and his family’s reaction for the first time.
Shortly after his selection, Yashasvi Jaiswal told in a statement to PTI that when my father got the news of my selection, he started crying. I haven’t met my mother yet, after some time I will go to meet her too.
For preparations for the Windies series, Yashasvi Jaiswal has to spend the next few days at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru before leaving for the tour. Regarding this, Jaiswal said that I am feeling very good after being selected in the team. I will try to do my best. I am definitely excited, but also want to prove myself on the field. After getting selected in the team, you feel a little nervous, but it is also a good feeling.
Learned a lot from senior players
Regarding his preparations, Yashasvi Jaiswal further said that he has spoken to captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane regarding the preparations for this tour. One thing that came up in most of the conversations was that I have to try to keep things simple. I have learned a lot from all of them. But when you are playing on the field, you have to do things yourself.
