Who can put the tricolor on a vehicle?

On Independence Day, people often hoist the tricolour on their vehicles. But not everyone is allowed to do so. According to the Indian Flag Code  2002, only a few people in the country have the legal right to hoist the tricolour on their motor vehicles. According to the National Flag Code, when the tricolour is hoisted anywhere, its saffron stripe should be on top. Apart from this, a torn or dirty flag should not be displayed.

Who can hoist the tricolour?

Now the question is who can hoist the tricolour on their vehicles. According to paragraph 3.44 of the Indian Flag Code  2002, the privilege of hoisting the national flag on motor cars is limited to only a few individuals. These include the President, Vice-President, Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Head of Indian Mission Posts, Prime Minister, Cabinet Minister, Minister of State and Deputy Minister of the Union, Chief Minister and Cabinet Minister of a State or Union Territory, Speaker of Lok Sabha, Deputy Speaker of Rajya Sabha, Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, Speaker of Legislative Councils in States, Speakers of Legislative Assemblies in States and Union Territories, Deputy Speaker of Legislative Councils in States, Deputy Speakers of Legislative Assemblies in States and Union Territories, Chief Justice of India, Judges of Supreme Court, Chief Justices of High Courts, Judges of High Courts can put the rules on their official vehicles.

How much punishment

Citizens have the freedom to hoist the tricolor at home or carry the flag in their hands. But putting the flag on private vehicles is a legal offense. According to the information, if anyone is found guilty of this, action can be taken against him under the National Honor Insult Prevention Act, 1971. According to this, a person can be punished with up to 3 years of imprisonment, or fine, or both for insulting the national symbols of India such as the national flag, the constitution and the national anthem.
