Who doesn’t like reading books? If you want knowledge of anything then it comes from books only, but do you know that there are some books in India which you cannot get even if you want, because for some reason or the other they are banned. There are different reasons for banning books, so let us know which are those books.
These books were banned
Nehru: A Political Biography- This book written on the first Prime Minister of the country was banned in 1975 considering it controversial.
The Hindus: An Alternative HistoryDue to opposition from religious organizations, Penguin India had banned this book by Wendy Doniger.
The Satanic Verses- This book written by Salman Rushti is one of the most controversial books of the twentieth century. After this book was published in 1988, a fatba was issued against Rushti by Ayatollah Khomeini. However, this book was banned even before the fatba was issued, which India was the first country to do. It is said that Islam was insulted in this book.
Nine hours to Rama- American Stanley Wolpert wrote this book. In which he briefly described the last few hours of Gandhi’s assassination by Godse. In which a conspiracy was told regarding the security of Gandhiji. Due to which this book was banned. You will be surprised to know that Wolpert had also written a book on Jinnah which was banned in Pakistan.
