The body of a young man was found hanging from a mango tree on Tuesday morning in Rahiyar village of Shivaji Nagar police station area of Samastipur district. The young man has been identified as late Jagdish Choudhary, son of Sunny Choudhary, resident of Parshamma village of Biraul police station area of the border Darbhanga district. Sunny was living at his maternal grandmother’s house for the last 20 days. On receiving information about the incident, Shivaji Nagar police station reached the spot, took the body in its custody and sent it to Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
The young man’s maternal uncle Baldev Sahni said that both his sister and brother-in-law have died. He had married his nephew Sunny Chaudhary six months ago. But, after the marriage, Sunny and his wife did not have a good relationship. His wife did not want to go with him, due to which Sunny was very tense. About a month ago, after convincing him, he was sent to Odisha to earn money. But, he returned within 15 days. He had come to his maternal grandparents’ house on the day of Nag Panchami, he said that he had come to see the fair. Since then, he was staying here and selling ice cream and sleeping here and there. He was not even coming home.
Baldev Sahni said that around 8:00 in the morning, the villagers informed him that Sunny’s body was hanging from a mango tree in the village garden. He committed suicide due to stress. He had also started consuming intoxicants for the past few days.
I had come to my maternal home on Nag Panchami
It is said that after returning from Odisha, Sunny stayed in Biraul for about 5 days, after which he reached his maternal home Sahiyara village on the day of Nag Panchami. He had started setting up an ice cream cart since last week. Due to not having good relations with his family, he had also become addicted to drugs, he was always in a state of intoxication.

The deceased youth’s maternal uncle Baldev Sahni said that a few days ago too Sunny had tried to commit suicide by electrocution. However, he was saved. After this, he was persuaded and sent to Odisha to earn money. But, after returning he committed suicide.

Shivaji Nagar police station chief Chhotelal Singh said that the youth committed suicide by hanging himself from a mango tree. The police team has sent the body to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. A preliminary report has been registered regarding the incident.
