A youth fell into a deep drain in Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi on Wednesday morning. Seeing him falling into the drain, local people informed the police and fire department. The drain was about 12 to 15 feet deep. The police called a team of divers to the spot. Later, after much effort, the body was taken out from the drain. The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar (40). Khayla police station has taken his body into custody and kept it safe in the mortuary of DDU hospital. Police are trying to find out the cause of the accident. It is believed that the accident occurred due to loss of balance after feeling dizzy. Police are investigating through CCTV.
According to the police, Anil Kumar lived with his family in Raghubir Nagar area. Apart from his wife, there are other members in his family. Anil worked in a private factory. He left for work at around 9.00 am on Wednesday morning. He was passing by the bank of a drain in Punjabi Bagh area. Meanwhile suddenly he fell into a deep drain. After receiving the news, police and fire department teams reached the spot. Later, Harish Kumar, in-charge of the diving team, was informed. He reached the spot with his team. Later, after a struggle of one and a half hour, Anil’s body was taken out of the water.
Police officials investigating the case say that Anil’s fall into the drain will be known only after the post-mortem on Thursday. It is also being ascertained whether he was drunk at the time of the accident. Khayla police station is investigating the case by interrogating Anil’s family and friends.
