National Level Exams Cancelled: Ever since the controversy started over NEET UG, one of the biggest exams in the country, NTA’s troubles do not seem to be decreasing. They are not able to free themselves from the allegations on one exam and the other exam is either cancelled or postponed. From NCERT to UGC NET and CSIR UGC NET, some exams are cancelled and some are postponed. After all, what problem has suddenly come up with NTA that so many fingers are being raised on their working system.
CSIR UGC NET 2024
The exam was postponed even before it was conducted. The exam was scheduled to be held between 25 and 27 June and on 21 June itself, NTA informed that the exam is postponed due to logistical issues and some unavoidable reasons. NTA did not clarify what these unavoidable reasons were, but due to the current situation, questions arose whether the paper has been leaked.
More than 2 lakh candidates had registered for this exam and through this, science students are selected for JRF, PhD programs etc.
National Common Entrance Test 2024
The uproar after NEET UG had not yet subsided when the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) was cancelled in the evening on the same day of its conduct. Around 29 thousand students had participated in this exam.
Through this course, one gets admission in the four-year Integrated Teachers Education Program. In its clarification, NTA said that in some centers, students were able to login late, so the exam was cancelled.

Another big exam of NTA, UGC NET, was organized on 18 June. The exam was cancelled the very next day on 19 June. Around 9.8 lakh students from all over the country had participated in the exam. The reason given for cancellation of the exam was that the paper was leaked on the darknet. This also tarnished the image of NTA. This is a big exam of the country through which every year lakhs of candidates appear for the exam for Assistant Professor and JRF.

A day before the NEET PG exam, the National Board of Medical Examinations shared a notice and said that some people are duping people on social media for money in the name of providing question papers, beware of them. The very next day and about 11 hours before the exam, the Health Ministry cancelled the exam.
Where did NTA go wrong
Thus, four major exams were cancelled within ten days. Three of these exams are conducted by NTA. Obviously, the candidates’ trust in the agency has been broken due to the frequent postponement or cancellation of these national level exams.
Until NTA comes out clean from NEET UG matter, questions will keep on arising. From changing the chief of NTA to forming a committee, many steps have been taken in this direction, the results will be out in a few days.
