Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. In his letter, Maliwal has urged for adjournment of today’s parliamentary work to discuss issues of women’s safety on the 10th anniversary of the Nirbhaya gang rape.

Swati Maliwal said in her letter that today the Nirbhaya gangrape case is completing 10 years. It is sad that till date nothing has changed. Wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman demanding postponement of today’s House proceedings and discussion on issues related to women’s safety in Parliament.

For information, let us tell you that on the night of 16 December 2012, a girl named Nirbhaya (name changed) was gang-raped in a bus moving on the streets of Delhi. During this, there was also a fatal attack on him. Her friend who was accompanying Nirbhaya was also attacked. This sensational incident shook the entire nation and there were demonstrations across the country. Nirbhaya died during treatment.
