12 apps that spy on Android users of India and Pakistan removed from google play store

SPYApps: Earlier this month, security researcher ESET had identified 12 such Android apps, which used to spy on users’ data. According to the report, all these apps worked as messaging tools, however, one of these apps worked as a news app.

Spying on users through 12 apps

Remote Access Trojan (RAT) code was used secretly in the background of all these apps, which is called VajraSpy. VajraSpy is said to have a range of spying systems that can be expanded depending on the permissions granted to the app bundled with its code.

With the help of these systems, these apps steal users’ contacts, files, call logs, and SMS. Some of these apps also track users’ WhatsApp and Singal messages and keep a copy of them. Apart from this, cyber criminals also do things like recording phone calls, taking pictures from camera etc. with the help of these apps.

Let us tell you the names of these apps.

  • Hello Chat
  • Chit Chat
  • Meet Me
  • nidus
  • Rafaqat News
  • TikTok
  • wave chat
  • private talk
  • Glow Glow
  • Let’s Chat
  • Quick Chat
  • yoho talk

Google deleted it from Play Store

These 12 apps were earlier available on Google Play Store, but now Google has removed these apps from Google Play Store. If these apps are already present in any user’s phone, then they will have to automatically delete these apps from their phone. According to reports, through these apps, cyber criminals target Android phone users of India and Pakistan. The security research company believes that cyber criminals may be using honey-trap, romantic or sexual activities to target users.
