Sadabad police station and SOG (Special Operation Group) have arrested 13 members of the interstate gang of Mewat (Haryana) who stole pipes of Jal Jeevan Mission pipeline. 146 DI pipes worth Rs 16 lakh, one Swift car, one canter, one truck, seven mobile phones and Rs 4024 have been recovered from their possession. Among the arrested accused, 12 are from Mewat and one is from West Bengal. During police interrogation, apart from Hathras, he has admitted to committing crimes in Maharashtra, Kochi Kerala, Siliguri (West Bengal). The SP has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the police team involved in the arrest.

The work of laying pipeline is being done under Jal Jeevan Mission in village Kajrauthi of Sadabad police station. On the night of September 11, iron DI pipes kept near village Ramchela Tirahe, Ramwanti and Kanhaiyalal cold storage were stolen. In this regard, a report was lodged by Rahul, resident of village Jalhu Mukhar police station Gonda Aligarh on September 12. Police say that of the recovered pipes, 112 were stolen from Ramchela and 34 from West Bengal.

Apart from Sadabad police station, the SP had deployed SOG and surveillance team to uncover the incident. During this time, footage of CCTV cameras installed on the roads was also scrutinized. After getting the clue, the police started searching for them. On Monday, the police caught the gang at Govindpur Toll Plaza located on Agra Highway. SP Nipun Aggarwal said that information is being provided about the criminal history of the gang members and the incidents committed in Maharashtra, Kerala and West Bengal. The police there are also being contacted.
