18th Lok Sabha: First Session: After the formation of the new government, the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha is going to start from Monday (24 June). On the first day of the first session of the Lok Sabha, the opposition India Alliance MPs will gather in the Parliament premises on Monday morning and march together towards the House. After the formation of the new government, the newly elected MPs will take oath in the Parliament along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier in the day, the President Draupadi Murmu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Bhartruhari Mahtab will be sworn in as the Protem Speaker of the Lok Sabha. After this, Mahtab will reach the Parliament House and start the proceedings of the Lok Sabha at 11 am.
Opposition can surround the government on these issues
There are chances of uproar in Lok Sabha during the session due to the appointment of seven-time MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as the temporary Speaker (Pro tem Speaker) of the lower house of Parliament. Apart from this, the opposition can raise the issue of inflation, deaths due to extreme heat and irregularities in the conduct of recent examinations.
The central government on Friday (21 June) cancelled the CSIR-UGC-NET exam. A day later, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) also postponed the NEET PG exam. DMK, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders have already indicated that they will raise the issue of lakhs of students who are protesting on the streets.
Bhartruhari Mahtab is being opposed
The opposition has strongly criticized the appointment of MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as the temporary Speaker and alleged that the government ignored the claim of Congress MP K Suresh for this post. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that Mahtab is a seven-time Lok Sabha member, making him suitable for this post.
PM Modi will take oath as member of the House
At the beginning of the proceedings of the Parliament, silence will be observed for a few moments. After this, Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh will table the list of members elected to the lower house. After this, Mehtab will address the Prime Minister as the Leader of the Lok Sabha. Narendra Modi The Protem Speaker will then request him to take the oath of membership of the House. After this, the Protem Speaker will administer the oath to the committee of Speakers appointed by the President, which will assist him in running the proceedings of the House until the election of the Lok Sabha Speaker on June 26.
The pro tem speaker will administer the oath to the members of the council of ministers
The President has appointed Kodikunnil Suresh (Congress), TR Balu (DMK), Radha Mohan Singh and Faggan Singh Kulaste (BJP) and Sudip Bandopadhyay (Trinamool Congress) to assist Mahtab in administering the oath to the newly elected members of the Lok Sabha. After the committee of Speakers, the Protem Speaker will administer the oath to the members of the Council of Ministers as members of the Lok Sabha. These members will take oath in the next two days in the order of the first letter of their names. The election for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker will be held on Wednesday (June 26).
JDU and TDP can raise their respective issues
According to a Hindustan Times report, BJP’s allies are also expected to raise issues related to their respective states and constituencies. Both JDU and TDP have a total of 28 MLAs and have played an important role in forming the BJP government at the Centre for the third consecutive time.
According to the report, TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed his MPs to raise issues related to the state. This includes the demand for funds for the capital Amaravati and Polavaram project. According to the report, the JDU leader said that the MPs from Bihar will also raise issues related to financial assistance and infrastructure for development projects and employment generation.
