200 Times Increase In Dog Bite Incidents In Bihar – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

Dog bite has been seen as the most prevalent disease in the Bihar Economic Survey (2023-24) released by the state government. According to the report, a total of 2,07,181 people became victims of dog bites in the year 2022-23, while the total number in the year 2021-22 was only 9,809. Data analysis shows that on an average, 600 people become victims of dog bites in Bihar every day. According to the report, the second most prevalent disease in the state was cases of malaria. In which 45,532 malaria cases were reported in 2022-23.

Patna tops

According to the report, a total of 22,599 dog bite cases have been reported in the capital Patna in the year 2022-23, which was the highest in Bihar. After that there are cases of Nalanda (17,074), Gopalganj (15,253), Vaishali (13,110), West Champaran (11,291), East Champaran (9,975), Madhubani (8,401), Araria (6,710). 6,234 dog bite cases were reported in Nawada district, followed by Sitamarhi (6,198), Jamui (5,851), Jehanabad (5,683), Bhojpur (5,323). At least 2,000 dog bite cases reported in 2022-23. The district-wise number includes Kaimur (33), Aurangabad (435), Buxar (686), Muzaffarpur (1,258) and Khagaria (1,916).

Patna Municipal Commissioner gave information

On reports of highest number of dog bite cases in Patna, Patna Municipal Commissioner (PMC) Animesh Kumar Parashar told PTI that they are aware of the fact and will quickly check such menace as per the existing rules. PMC will also bring in NGOs for this purpose.

Nalanda District Magistrate said- We have a better team

While sharing information with PTI, Nalanda District Magistrate Shekhar Anand said that we have our own team of dedicated and trained municipal employees to stop this menace. We have already intensified the campaign against stray dogs in the city.

Rabies is a dangerous disease

Expressing his concern over stray dogs in the state, medical expert Dr Manoj Kumar told PTI that the survey report should have mentioned the number of cases of the disease which is usually caused by the bite of an infected animal, such as a dog. He said that rabies is a disease, it is a dangerous virus which causes inflammation in the brain.
