2024 vs 2023 Box Office Report previous year witnessed a steep decline due to may be no releases of shah rukh salman khan

2024 vs 2023 Box Office Report: In the year 2024, films from Ajay Devgan to Akshay Kumar and Shraddha Kapoor were released in theatres. But despite this, this year was nothing special for Bollywood. This year was in the name of horror-comedy with films like ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Munjya’. But even the Hindi collection of a film like ‘Pushpa 2’ could not strengthen the credibility of Bollywood.

There has been a huge decline in the box office collection of 2024 as compared to 2023. According to the Ormax report, a huge decline of 37% was seen in Bollywood films (except Hindi-dubbed versions) in 2024. Last year’s total box office collection was Rs 3215 crore, whereas in 2023 it was Rs 5805 crore. That means the collection of 2024 is Rs 1800 crore less than the earnings of 2023.

These films flopped at the box office
The reason for decline in box office collection last year was also that a large number of films flopped last year. In fact, the number of flop films at the box office was much higher than that of hits. Many films including ‘Sarfira’, ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’, ‘Khel Khel Mein’, ‘Jigra’ and ‘Maidan’ fared badly at the box office. In such a situation, here are those four big points which could be the reasons for the poor box office collection of 2024.

1.Salman-Shahrukh’s films were not released
Shahrukh Khan Had given two blockbusters and one hit film in the year 2023. If the box office collection of ‘Jawaan’, ‘Pathan’ and ‘Dinky’ were combined, it would have been more than Rs 1300 crore. But no film of King Khan was released in 2024. Similarly, no film starring Salman Khan and Aamir Khan was released on screen.

2.Big budget films
People were eagerly waiting for Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’. The film with a budget of around Rs 340 crore had a bad run at the box office. Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’, Ajay Devgan’s ‘Maidan’ and ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ also proved to be flops.

3.Increased dominance of South films
Since few years, there is a huge craze for South films among the Hindi audience also. Last year too, South films dominated the box office. ‘Pushpa 2’, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and ‘Hanuman’ got very good response at the box office and in terms of collection, they overpowered many Bollywood films.

4. Increase in ticket prices
Box office collection also remained in loss due to high ticket prices of films. The average ticket price of Hindi films in 2024 was around Rs 203 and this may prove to be expensive for the general audience watching films.
