Rishabh Chaurasia/Lucknow: Doctors at King George’s Medical University have performed a miracle through a unique and complex surgery. Doctors at KGMU succeeded in saving the life of a 54-year-old patient, in whom a bar had entered his heart. This bar had passed through the heart, slicing it. In this type of case, 99% of patients worldwide die, but this is the first time that a patient has been successfully saved from this condition.
In fact, a 54-year-old resident of Sultanpur was admitted to the Trauma Center of KGMU on March 27 at 2:30 pm after a serious accident. The name of the injured was Munna Lal. A bar had entered his chest from the right side. The CT scan revealed that the bar had passed through the heart. An approximately 45 cm long rod was inserted into the patient’s right chest in the third and fourth intercostal spaces, giving a total length of 65 cm. According to family members, this accident happened on March 27 between 9:30 and 10:00 in the morning.

Doctor Yadvendra of the surgery department at the trauma center said that after seeing the condition of the patient, the emergency team immediately became active. X-ray and CT scan were immediately done to examine the patient. CT scan revealed that the bar had passed through the heart. In which the lower two chambers of the heart were also damaged. Surgery was the only treatment in this serious condition. This bar had caused serious damage to the lungs as well as the heart.
Heart and lung injury
Doctor Yadavendra said that the team of doctors immediately informed the cardiac surgery department and prepared a plan for the surgery without any delay. This surgery was extremely complicated, because it caused damage to vital organs like heart and lungs. The patient’s life was saved after successful surgery.
Such surgery was done for the first time
Dr. Yadavendra claims that in 99 percent of cases such patients do not survive. No such case has been seen anywhere in the world in which a bar has passed through the heart and the patient has survived. For the first time, this type of surgery was done in the Trauma Center of KGMU and success was achieved in saving the patient. The entire surgery took about five hours
