More than 300 tombs have been found in this city, which are spread over an area of more than 2 lakh 70 thousand feet. When archaeologists saw this, they too were stunned.
The name of this city is Aswan. Since there are only dead bodies lying here, archaeologists have called it the city of the dead. There are a total of 36 tombs at this place, out of which each tomb contains 30 to 40 mummies. You can imagine how many dead bodies must have been buried here.
The ‘city of the dead’ is 4500 years old
According to the Daily Mail, the city of Aswan was a trade and military area, which was settled at least 4500 years ago. Archaeologists do not know much about this mysterious city. However, it has been told that these tombs were reused about 900 years ago. There are 10 tombs at this place, which were arranged by Aga Khan III, former President of the Assembly of League of Nations. Archaeologist Patrizia Piacentini of the University of Milan was also a part of the team that found this city. He said that this is a very unique discovery.
People were shocked to see the condition
It is being said about these tombs that they are from the 6th to 9th century. This is an open courtyard in which milk bricks have been laid and mountain rock has been carved. You will be stunned to hear about the condition of some of the bodies in it. A small child was buried with his mother and their mummy is still in the same condition. Some of these bodies are also malnourished. In such a situation, it seems that these people were in bad condition even when they were alive.
