Khamai Foundation scientist Alejandro Arteaga, who led the study, said, these vipers are multicolored. The color of no two snakes is the same. It is difficult for anyone to identify them. This species of eyelash-pitviper is quite dangerous. They are known to ambush and quickly attack their prey. These snakes, which are very beautiful to look at, are so poisonous that if they bite someone and treatment is not given within a few minutes, then it is certain that they will die.

I felt like death was just around the corner
Research team member Lucas Bustamante shared his experience. He said, when we found these snakes and we were taking pictures, the eyelash-pitviper bit my finger. I started feeling unbearable pain. Started feeling dizzy. It felt as if death was just ahead. But then three doses of antivenom were given at certain intervals and I was able to recover. There is no trace of its bite now. Luckily we had antivenom and we used it immediately. Let us tell you that the two new species of vipers, Rahim eyelash-pitviper (Bothrichthys rahimi) and Hussain eyelash-pitviper (B. hussaini), have been named in honor of Prince Hussain Aga Khan and Prince Rahim Aga Khan respectively.
