Many countries protested
Several countries, including the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK, have strongly condemned the Taliban government’s decision to ban women’s entry into universities. Apart from this, Islamic countries Turkey and Saudi Arabia have also condemned it. The Taliban banned girls from attending secondary schools in March. India’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, ‘We look at the news that has come out in this regard with concern.’
India has consistently supported the right of women to education in Afghanistan. Not India, but Muslim countries Turkey and Saudi Arabia have also condemned the Taliban administration for banning the entry of women in universities.

Two dozen women have protested against this move on the streets of Kabul. Domestically, several Afghan cricketers have condemned the ban on women entering university. Cricket is the most popular sport in Afghanistan and players have thousands of followers on social media. Earlier this week, Taliban rulers banned women from studying in private and public universities across the country with immediate effect until further orders.
