Taliban Education Minister Says Why He Issued A Decree To Ban Women From Universities

Education Minister Nida Mohammad Nadeem believes that some subjects being taught in universities are against the principles of Islam. That’s why the ban has been imposed.

Two dozen women have protested against this move on the streets of Kabul. Domestically, several Afghan cricketers have condemned the ban on women entering university. Cricket is the most popular sport in Afghanistan and players have thousands of followers on social media. Earlier this week, Taliban rulers banned women from studying in private and public universities across the country with immediate effect until further orders.
