According to the Daily Mail report, scientists from the University of Tubingen in Germany, Cambridge in England, Barcelona and Santiago de Compostela in Spain analyzed the DNA of 4,000-year-old skulls. They found evidence of brain tumor removal in patients thousands of years ago, which was way ahead of its time. These skulls were found during excavations in ancient Egypt. Egyptians have been considered skilled in medicine for centuries. It has been proved once again that they had modern methods of treatment centuries ago.
Was cancer curable then?
Tatiana Tondini, head of the research team and scientist at the University of Tubingen, said, “We wanted to know whether cancer was curable before today? If any such attempt has been made, then when and how was it carried out. How old is cancer? And how did people fight this disease in ancient times? According to Newsweek, the skulls on which the research was done are kept in the Duckworth Museum of Cambridge University. The first skull is between 2687 and 2345 BC. It is of a 30 to 35 year old man. The second skull is between 663 and 343 BC. It is of a woman over 50 years of age.
Evidence of cancer surgery was seen
The researchers said they found a large lesion on the skull indicating abnormal growth of tissue. Several other small lesions were also seen around the skull indicating that the growth had metastasized. The team was also stunned to see knife marks around each lesion, as if someone had deliberately tried to cut out these cancerous growths. Tondini said, when we first saw the cut marks under the microscope, we could not believe what was in front of us. Research co-author Albert Isidro said, it seems that the ancient Egyptians knew surgery of cancer cells. They may have tried it.
