A teenager died after being shot by a licensed rifle in Premnagar, Krishnanagar, Lucknow on Sunday evening. He was playing with his cousin brother using his uncle’s licensed rifle. It is said that the bullet was fired during a scuffle. The police is currently investigating. The rifle has been seized.
Shiva (12), son of army personnel Balveer, a resident of Palki in Jalaun, was a student of class six. He lived on rent in Premnagar with his sisters Ritu (22), Renu (17) and cousin Divya Pratap (12). Renu is an intermediate student, while Ritu is preparing for competitive exams. Divya studies in class six along with Shiva. On July 4, Divya’s father Sanjay brought all the children back to Premnagar from the village.

Shiva had loaded the rifle
Krishnanagar police says that in conversation with Divya, it was revealed that at 6 pm on Saturday evening, he was playing with Shiva in the room on the first floor with his father’s licensed rifle. At that time, Sanjay had gone to buy vegetables. Renu and Ritu were busy with their work in the other room. While playing, Shiva picked up the rifle and after loading it, pointed it at Divya. After this, both the children started fighting over the rifle and suddenly a shot was fired.
Hearing the sound, people rushed to the room and saw Shiva lying in a pool of blood. Divya was standing nearby and the rifle was also there. Shiva was taken to the trauma center, where doctors declared him dead. Krishnanagar police also reached the spot as soon as the news of the accident was received. Police also called the forensic team for investigation. After investigation, the police took the licensed rifle into custody. At the same time, Chowk police sent Shiva’s body for post-mortem.
Uncle was looking for a job as a guard
Sanjay lives in the village and does farming. He was looking for a job as a guard. For this he had brought a licensed rifle. Shiva’s another elder sister Jyoti lives in the village with her mother Pushpa. Her father Balveer is in the BSF and is posted in Punjab. He has come to the village on leave.
