We all know that women love shopping. But a woman from Britain shops in her sleep. She did so much shopping that she incurred a debt of Rs 3 lakh. When she came to know about it, she rushed to the doctors. After examining her, the doctors said, “This is a rare disease. If not treated on time, it can be very harmful.”
According to the Daily Mail report, Kelly Knipes, a resident of Essex, gave birth to her first child in 2006. Then she realized that she had started walking in her sleep. This was fine till now. But her habit of walking in her sleep soon turned into a rare disease. Kelly started shopping in her sleep. She started scrolling shopping apps at night like during the day. As a result, one day she unknowingly did shopping worth 3000 pounds i.e. about 3 lakh rupees while sleeping.

Kelly bought an expensive basketball court from eBay and ordered Haribo sweets worth hundreds of pounds. She also bought colour boxes, books, salt and pepper bowls, a Wendy’s house, fridge and table. She came to know about it when she received the delivery of the ‘in-ground basketball unit’. Kelly was shocked to see this. She could not understand when she had ordered it. Kelly said, I could not return any food item. I kept the colour boxes and the Wendy’s house because my children had seen it. They were asking for it for a long time.
Bank details given to cyber criminals
The matter did not end here. In March, Kelly received a spam message. In which it was written that the government is going to give me Rs 40000 to pay the bills. I just have to fill a form. Kelly was sleeping at that time. And while sleeping, she filled the form. Instead of going to the government, this information reached them. She gave all her account details to cyber criminals. Then when she regained consciousness, 250 pounds had been withdrawn from Kelly’s bank account. Kelly was successful in getting the money back from the bank. On the basis of these details, five attempts were made to withdraw different amounts from her account.

Kelly suspects that her information has been sold to other cyber criminals because many people tried to withdraw money from my bank account. She said, I had to cancel my cards many times. Whenever she goes to sleep, she trembles thinking what is going to happen tonight. Because wherever she keeps her phone or laptop, when she has to do shopping, she picks it up from there and places the order. Doctors say that this is the effect of a disease called parasomnia. In this, a person starts doing abnormal activities while sleeping. She also has sleep apnea, which forces her brain to wake up partially while sleeping. She is currently undergoing treatment.
