The budget of the film Mela was Rs 16 crore, while it earned Rs 15.04 crore at the box office in India, while its worldwide collection was Rs 28 crore. It is said that this earning was made from a combination of box office as well as satellite rights and song cassettes.

Twinkle Khanna left Bollywood with this film

Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia’s daughter Twinkle Khanna has earlier worked with Ajay Devgan, Govinda, Shahrukh Khan And had done films with Salman Khan. This was her first and last time with Aamir when both of them worked together. It is said that Twinkle was dating Akshay Kumar during this film and as soon as this film flopped, she left acting and married Akshay Kumar.
