A woman died after being hit by a highway engaged in road construction late Sunday evening on Mahamadipur-Bochha road of NH 122B of Mohiuddinnagar police station in Samastipur district, while her son narrowly escaped the accident. The deceased has been identified as Rajo Devi (45), wife of Mahesh Chaudhary of Mahamdipur Ward 11 of the same police station, while her son Avinash narrowly escaped the accident. Police have seized the body and started the post-mortem process. On the other hand, after the information about this incident, there was chaos among the family members.

Haiva trampled the woman

Regarding the incident, villagers say that Rajo Devi along with her son Avinash was returning late in the evening from a relative’s place in Dalsinghsarai on a bike. His son was driving the bike. People told that when he reached near Dubaha village, he became unbalanced and fell on the road due to a highway coming from behind. Avinash’s mother fell towards the road due to which the Haiva crushed her, while Avinash fell on the side of the road. Because of this he narrowly escaped. Rajo Devi died on the spot. When there was an uproar, people from nearby gathered. However, during this time the driver of the Hiva left the vehicle and ran away. People gathered at the spot expressed their anger by throwing bricks and stones at the vehicle.

Villagers allege vehicle moves uncontrollably

Local people say that the vehicle engaged in the construction of NH 122B drives at a very high speed. Because of this, road accidents keep happening on this route every day. Last year, more than half a dozen people have died in road accidents. People have demanded from the administration that at present there is a single road. The vehicle must be driven in a controlled manner. Regarding the incident, Mohiuddinnagar police station incharge Gaurav Prasad said that the body is being seized and sent for postmortem. The vehicle has been confiscated. An FIR will be registered regarding the incident.
