Adam Gilchrist on Rohit and Kohli Future Plan: There is a lot of demand for the retirement of two experienced cricketers in the current Indian team. Amidst all this, Adam Gilchrist has predicted the retirement of Rohit Sharma and has talked about seeing Virat as the captain.
Will Rohit Sharma say goodbye to cricket?
Rohit Sharma’s former IPL captain and Deccan Chargers teammate Adam Gilchrist believes that after the Champions Trophy, Rohit can completely retire not only from Test cricket but also from international cricket. Gilchrist said on the ‘Club Prairie Fire’ podcast, “I don’t think Rohit will go on the England tour. He has said that he will think about his decision after returning home. He will be welcomed home with his two-month-old daughter, whom he would like to devote time to taking care of. “Maybe he plays for the last time in the Champions Trophy and then retires from cricket.”
Will Virat Kohli become captain again?
Adam Gilchrist suggested the name of Virat Kohli as the next captain of the Indian Test team. He said, “I don’t think it would be right to make Jasprit Bumrah the full-time captain. Being a fast bowler, this can be quite challenging for him. In such a situation, it will not be surprising if the team management hands over the captaincy to Virat again.
On the other hand, former England captain Michael Vaughan supported making Bumrah the Test captain. Vaughan said, “Jasprit performed brilliantly in the Perth and Sydney Tests in Australia. If he had not been injured, perhaps India could have won that match.” Vaughan suggested to prepare Shubman Gill as the vice-captain and possible captain for the future.
