Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury: Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is angry with the party. According to sources, the reason for Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s anger is his removal from the post of Bengal Congress president without informing him. He said that in a recent meeting, he was addressed as former president, which was quite shocking for him.
Talking to news agency ANI, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary mentioned the things that happened in the party meeting. Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said, ‘Our party leader KC Venugopal, who is in charge of Bengal, recently called the leaders who were considered necessary to be called as per the wish of Gulab Mir and Ek Singh. Venugopal ji met everyone separately and met the leaders of Bengal Congress the next day. The opinion of all the leaders was sought. Apart from this, nothing happened in the meeting.’
I thought Rahul and Kharge would also be impatient
Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said, ‘I thought that Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge ji would also be present in the meeting, but only Venugopal ji was present in the meeting. From the day Mallikarjun Kharge became the Congress President, according to the party’s constitution, all posts become temporary. If we put that matter forward, then from the day Kharge took charge, all the posts in the whole country became temporary.
‘Let the agreement be in my presence’
He said, ‘During the elections, I had told the party that if there is any seat sharing in Bengal, it should be seat sharing and not alliance. So, it should be done in my presence. During the elections, the president said that if it is necessary to keep me out, I will be kept out. I was saddened to hear this. I was the president, whether I am permanent or temporary.
‘Kharge’s call came’
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, ‘I sent a message to the party president that if possible, replace me with someone else. After this, Kharge sahab called and said that after the election results, you should come to Delhi and sit together and discuss the issue of Bengal. In the meantime, a message was sent from the Congress that you should call all the leaders of Bengal and gather them together, a resolution has to be passed.
‘…and I became the ex-president’
He said, ‘I called all our leaders in Bengal and made all the arrangements. During this, two resolutions were passed. I knew that I called this meeting as the chairman. After this, the Mirs started addressing and said that we will meet KC Venugopal ji one by one. Before the address, it was said that the former Bengal Congress President is also here. At that time I came to know that I have become the former President.’
