He publicly advocated women’s rights by participating in ceremonies and demonstrations and tried to raise the voice of Afghan women in the rest of the world. However, Zahra Mousvi was forced to leave Afghanistan due to the Taliban banning women and girls and gradually excluding them from public life.
Women workers are afraid of exile
According to the report of DW News, Jahra had to struggle a lot to achieve the necessary documents to live in Pakistan. Jahra Mausvi said, “I could not get a legitimate Pakistani visa for myself and my family due to the strict visa policies of Pakistan. Because of this the Pakistani police arrested me. They entered in plain clothes, searched the house. After this, I and my daughter arrested me. They took us to exile.”
Zahra said that there he was kept in very harsh conditions for two days and one night and was released only due to pressure from human rights activists. According to the report, many other Afghan women activists also spoke and told about their problems. Jamila Ahmadi, a female worker, said that many of her female partners have already been sent back to Afghanistan and warned that they are also in danger of life.
‘Return to Taliban rule is equal to death’
He said, “My reporting on Taliban crimes and my participation with the Directorate of National Security (NDS) has put me in great danger. If I am forced to return to the Taliban rule, it will definitely be a certain death.” Many women rights activists sought asylum in Pakistan only when the situation in Taliban -ruled Afghanistan became unbearable.
