This species of litchi is very popular in Thailand and Vietnam. It is also cultivated there on a large scale. The National Litchi Research Center has successfully cultivated it in Muzaffarpur. The fruiting of Longan starts after the litchi season. It is not red like litchi. It has anti-cancer properties as well as properties that increase immunity in the body. Farmers can earn good profits by cultivating it in litchi producing areas. The season of Longan is from July to August. It fruits during this time only.

This fruit is not infested with insects
This time also, cultivation of Longan is being done with great enthusiasm in the National Litchi Research Center campus. Farmers are also being encouraged by the center to do gardening of Longan. Longan tree flowers in April and the fruit ripens and becomes ready in July. It also ends in August. Longan is similar to litchi. In a way, it can be said that it is a fruit of the litchi family, which is sweet to eat. It also has leaves like litchi. The tree is also similar. It is just not red and oval like litchi. Its biggest specialty is that it does not get infested with insects like litchi. It is available for a month after the litchi season ends.

It is cultivated at the Litchi Research Center, Muzaffarpur. This year, all the trees have good fruits. Right now the size of the Longan fruit is quite small. Slowly, its size is increasing. It is very sweet and also works as a natural sweetener. Longan is also used to make many types of medicines.
