91st annual meeting of DU Court held
Appointment process stopped due to Lok Sabha elections
Till now, appointments have been made on a total of 4556 academic posts.
DU will further improve its ranking both nationally and internationally

New Delhi. The appointment process in Delhi University has been stopped due to the Lok Sabha elections. Now after the removal of the code of conduct, the process of appointment in DU will start again. Till now, a total of 4556 academic posts have been appointed. Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh gave this information in the 91st annual meeting of DU Court. The Vice Chancellor said that DU will strive to further improve its ranking both at the national and international levels.
The 91st annual meeting of DU Court was held on Thursday. A detailed description of the year’s activities was presented in it. While presenting the figures of appointments made during the year, the Vice Chancellor said that till now appointments have been made on a total of 4556 academic posts. In the meeting, DU Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta confirmed the minutes of the 90th annual meeting held last year. University Treasurer Naval Kishore presented the financial estimates for 2023-24 and 2024-25 approved by the Executive Council.
The Vice Chancellor said that DU has also improved its ranking significantly in this one year. In the QS World University Rankings (Sustainability 2024), Delhi University has been ranked 1st in India and 220th globally with an overall score of 73.4. In the coming year, Delhi University will strive to further improve its ranking at both national and international levels.
Last year, 69622 students took admission in UG and 11174 students in PG.
The Vice Chancellor informed in the meeting that in the academic session 2023-24, 69622 students took admission in DU at UG level and 11174 students at PG level. A total of 19899 students had registered for admission to PhD in the first and second phase, out of which a total of 1655 students have been admitted in the first and second phase of admission. The third phase for departments in the Faculty of Science has been started on March 26. He has called upon the heads of departments and principals to further increase the number of students in PhD, this will boost research activities in the university.
DU has no shortage of capital
Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh said that the university has no shortage of capital. Rs 778.39 crore has been allocated for 2023-24 for new works. Rs 32.83 crore has also been allocated under EWS for infrastructure development. The Vice Chancellor said that till now Rs 231.55 crore has been collected from the fees of the students. Just a few days ago, Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani has approved Rs 272 crore from the Nirbhaya Fund for the construction of a hostel with 1000-bed residential facility for girls.
