The weather conditions in Agra, Uttar Pradesh have been bad for more than three days. People are shivering due to melting. On Wednesday, people felt slight relief as the sun came out briefly in the afternoon, but the melting increased again in the evening.
The day started with fog on Wednesday. The maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 13 and minimum at 5.5 degrees. People were seen resorting to bonfire to escape the cold. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of respite from the harsh cold for a week.
According to Dr. Sandeep Singh, meteorologist of Agricultural Science Center, Bichpuri, there will be fog on Thursday also. The maximum temperature increased by 1.8 degrees compared to Tuesday. But, cold wind and thaw made people miserable. People were seen warming their hands in groups on the road, while even in homes, relief was felt only after turning on the heaters.
Sales of woolen clothes increased
Usually the cold subsides after Makar Sankranti. This year the pain of winter is not showing any sign of abating. The demand for warm clothes has increased in the market. Along with all the major showrooms of the city, people are also seen shopping for jackets, coats etc. on the footpaths.
