The Agriculture Minister has said that the budgetary allocation for agriculture in 2013-14 was Rs 27,663 crore, which has increased to Rs 1,32,470 crore in 2024-25. If the budget of various related sectors including fertilizer subsidy is added to this budget, then this amount will increase to Rs 1,75,444.55 crore. However, the allocation for irrigation is not included in this amount. The first task to increase production will be to provide water to the dry fields of the farmers.

109 new seeds will come soon

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the government has prepared improved seeds to increase production and 109 more seeds of improved variety are going to be released. Due to these efforts of the government, agricultural production in the country increased to 32.9 crore tonnes in 2023-24. Horticulture production has reached 35.2 crore tonnes during this period. Work is going on rapidly in the pulses and oilseeds sector in the country and their production is increasing continuously.

The government has set a target of achieving self-sufficiency in the matter of pulses. Farmers should register the amount of tur, masoor and urad they produce on the portal, the government will buy their entire crop at MSP. Fertilizer will continue to be available at cheap prices

The Agriculture Minister said that the government gives a bag of urea to farmers for only Rs 266. He said that similarly the government has not allowed the price of 50 kg DAP bag given to farmers to increase. The farmers of the country were assured that they will continue to get fertilizers at cheap prices.
