After the results of JEE Main-2024 examination, students who want to make their future in the engineering field are busy preparing for B.Tech admission. In such a situation, Professor TG Sitaram, Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and former Director of IIT Guwahati, cleared the confusion of the students. He urged to include VLSI design and technology courses in their degree programmes.
AICTE organized a program on Thursday to provide students with engineering fields and related information. In this, the experts gave detailed information to the students about the emerging fields apart from the traditional ones in engineering. The session was inaugurated by Professor TG Sitaram, Chairman, AICTE. He underlined the importance of VLSI in the semiconductor industry. In his address, Professor Seetharam emphasized the growing relevance of VLSI technology and the need to equip students with the necessary skills during their college education. He said that VLSI is an emerging area.
We should focus on making students skilled. Today the industry needs employees who are ready to work from day one. The curriculum has been prepared keeping this objective in mind. Pro. Sitaram also praised the curriculum revision committee. During this, he also laid emphasis on preparing teachers with rich domain knowledge, innovative style of teaching and experimental teaching projects.
Need to pay attention to these areas
Experts provided information on various aspects of semiconductor device/manufacturing, analog mixed-signal and RF circuits, digital design and systems, electronic design automation, display technologies, semiconductor packaging. Experts said that students should pay special attention to these areas also. These areas are in great demand in the global market. Experts said that our aim is to prepare students for the industry needs before they complete their graduation degree. The event featured industry representatives from DUK, Arm Education India, ST Microelectronics, Synopsys and Cadence Design Systems providing free resources in the form of content, tools, internships, FDPs etc.
