The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployed at Indira Gandhi International Airport has arrested four Air India employees and a passenger on charges of human trafficking. All the accused have been handed over to the police.
A CISF official said that on December 27, the surveillance and intelligence team deployed at the airport found suspicious activity of a passenger sitting in the check-in area near the departure gate. The passenger was identified as Diljot Singh. He had to go to Birmingham by Air India flight. During investigation it was revealed that he did not board the flight. This deepened the suspicion of CISF personnel. When questioned, he did not give a satisfactory answer.
After this, Diljot’s activities were checked through CCTV and it was found that he did not even go to the check-in counter. Instead, Rohan Verma, a crew member posted in Air India, had gone to complete the check-in process. After this, Rohan was taken into custody and interrogated. He told that he had gone to complete the immigration process using wrong documents. His colleague Mohammad Jahangir had asked him to do so. In return for this he was promised Rs 80 thousand.
There were two more passengers with Diljot. He was asked to complete the process of all three papers. After this CISF detained Jahangir. He told that Rakesh, a resident of Mahipalpur, had promised him to give him Rs 40 thousand per passenger. CISF officials informed the matter to senior AISATS officials. During investigation, two other employees Yash and Akshay Narang also confessed to their involvement in the case. After this all the accused were handed over to the police.
