More than a hundred passengers of an Air India flight bound for New Delhi have been stranded in Phuket, Thailand for more than 80 hours. According to the passengers, this flight was scheduled to take off for Delhi on the night of 16 November, but due to a technical glitch, a delay of six hours was reported. Passengers say that after making them wait for hours, they were asked to board the plane, but after an hour they were again deboarded and the flight was cancelled.
Air India apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers, saying that the November 16 flight was canceled due to a “technical problem”. The airline also said that ground staff made every possible effort to minimize inconvenience to passengers, including arranging hotel accommodation and meals. Apart from this, some passengers were also sent under alternative flights. Apart from this, the option of full refund was also given. Air India also said that “the safety of passengers and crew is of paramount importance for us.”
Passenger problems and re-landing
Elderly people and children were also included among the passengers. The plane was prepared to take off again. Passengers claim that they were told that it was the same plane, but the technical fault had been rectified. The plane took off, but after about two-and-a-half hours of flight, it was landed again in Phuket and the passengers were again told that there was a technical fault. Since then, passengers are stranded in Phuket.
Complaints of passengers on social media
In the flight tracking app FlightRadar, it can be seen that the plane had two hours of travel before returning to Phuket. Passengers have alleged on social media that they are not getting any satisfactory response from the airline representatives. According to an airline source, “Many passengers have been sent back, about 40 passengers are still in Phuket, who will be repatriated in the evening.”
