Airline company or government Who gives compensation on plane crash and how compensation calculated

There are certain rules, regulations and laws to govern everything in the world. Just as there are traffic rules for driving a car. Similarly, some rules have been set for air travel also. These rules are being talked about because there has been a spate of plane accidents in the last few days.

Jeju Air plane crashes at Muan International Airport in South Korea. 179 people lost their lives in this accident. Earlier on December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane had crashed, in which 38 people were killed. Now the question is, how are the people killed in these plane accidents given compensation? Does the government of the place where the accident occurred give compensation to the passengers or does the airline company? Let us know…

This is the rule for domestic flights

The Aviation Ministry decides the rules and regulations to operate domestic flights. The Ministry of Aviation had issued a notification in 2014. Under this, in case of any plane accident, the airline company gives compensation up to Rs 20 lakh to the families of the passengers. However, this rule is applicable only for domestic flights.

This much compensation is received in international flights

According to the passenger charter, even if an international flight crashes, there is a provision for compensation. In case of a crash, the passenger’s family can get 1,13,100 SDR i.e. special drawing rights from the airline company. Earlier this compensation was 1,00,000, which was increased to 1,13,100 SDR in India in 2016.

What is this SDR?

You can consider it as a global currency converter. One SDR is equal to 1.41 US dollars. According to this, the airline company will have to pay a compensation of more than Rs 1.5 crore to all the passengers who were victims of the accident.

Every flight has insurance

All airlines are required to insure all their flights. In case of any accident, money comes from here. If an accident occurs, the insurance company pays full compensation. For this, passengers do not have to do anything separately.
