Akshay Kumar’s Work Ethics: Akshay Kumar’s film Sarfira is running in theatres these days. The film got good reviews, but it did not benefit the film much. The film earned only 2.5 crores on the first day. The film’s collection is not very good even on the weekend. In the last few years, except OMG 2, no other film of Akshay has performed well.
Now Akshay has talked about his commitment towards his films and giving less time to the projects. In a conversation with Galatta Plus, Akshay was asked that there is a perception outside that Akshay Kumar wraps up his films early.
I work for 8 hours continuously
On this, Akshay said, ‘I work 8 hours a day. I think when you are in front of the camera, the camera captures everything. The body gets tired after 8 hours. Your body needs 8 hours of sleep, 2 hours of workout, and a few hours to spend with the family. So how much time is left after that? I am ready to do everything during these 8 hours. When I am on the set, I don’t even go to the vanity. I am completely on the set until pack up.
‘This is what happens when it comes to wrapping up quickly – I don’t kick anyone and tell them to finish quickly. There is a movie called Mission Impossible by Tom Cruise, for which he shot for only 55 days.’
Akshay further said, ‘There are some films which have a 75-day shoot schedule and some take 30 days. Anyway, I am ready to give as much time as the director needs. This perception was started by someone who does not like me. Earlier, when the films were running, it used to be like, yaar, start the film with him, it will finish soon. Now when it is not running, everyone is saying that he does not give time to the film. So it keeps changing.’
I focus on the character- Akshay
Apart from this, Akshay said about the characters- ‘These days it is enough to make a hero. Make him a pan India, make him look big. I feel that I have to see my character. I have never seen others. I have done many films in which I had very small characters. I want to be a part of a good film even if my shoot is for 5 days only. I keep doing films according to my own. I do not think that I have to do a pan India film. I do not understand the pan India concept.’
