The people of ADA Colony Avantika Phase-1, located in Swarnajayanti Nagar of Aligarh metropolis, have to yearn for water drop by drop. Drinking water is not being supplied to the houses from the 30 year old water tank. A new tubewell is closed in this area. People are facing the brunt of the negligence of Municipal Corporation and Jal Nigam. In Avantika Phase-1, water is not able to rise in the water tank due to lack of suction of water from the tube well. Water is being supplied only for one hour, which is proving insufficient for the people.

In earlier houses, water used to reach the upper floors, as the scope of the pipeline was very less. Now many areas have increased. The water supply in these areas is being done from this tube well. A new tube well was bored in this area, from where the pipeline connection is to be made in this water tank. It is being told that the connection is getting delayed due to lack of coordination between the officials of Municipal Corporation and Jal Nigam.

The water tank is 30 years old. We are craving for every drop of water. Water comes only once in 24 hours, but its pressure is so low that it does not reach the upper floor after running the motor. -Rajeev Sharma, Avantika Phase-1

People are facing the brunt of the negligence of Municipal Corporation and Jal Nigam. New tube well has been made but is not being commissioned. There is a shortage of water. No one is going to listen to this problem. -Manoj Sharma, Avantika Phase-1

The 30-year-old tubewell is boring, which is 250 feet below. Even after running for hours, the water is not coming up properly. It is said that the water level has gone down by 600 feet, so the tubewell cannot lift the water. -RP Singh, Avantika Phase-1

If the new tubewell is commissioned, then the water problem will go away, but for many days people are facing water problems. There is a handpump in the area, that too is lying defunct. If this were true, then there would be less of a problem. -Ramdas, Avantika Phase-1

Former MLA Tha in ADA Colony Avantika Phase-1. The tubewell installed near Dalveer Singh’s residence, so water does not reach the water tank and water is not being supplied to the houses. The new tube well has been boring at some distance from the tank. The pipeline is yet to be connected. In two weeks, the supply of water to the houses will be as before. -Anwar Khwaja, General Manager Jal Nigam, AMU
