In the city of Aligarh, these two incidents of an elderly and a girl being made victims of ferocious dogs have worried the residents of the city. Even though the officials of the Municipal Corporation are exposing the claims of catching these dreaded dogs through an NGO and getting them sterilized from May 1. Even after five days, the Municipal Corporation has not been able to start the shelter.
Even after 20 days of the first incident, the municipal teams have not been able to catch even a single ferocious dog. The shelters and cages built on the Quarsi Bypass to catch them are lying empty. The Municipal Corporation has entrusted the task of catching the dogs and getting them sterilised, and sending them to the shelter, to an NGO.
On April 16, a retired doctor who was out for a walk in AMU was attacked and killed by ferocious dogs. Just a week after this incident, a dog dragged a four-month-old girl from the house to the bushes in Swarna Jayanti Nagar, a posh colony of the city, and killed the girl by scratching her. Even after both these incidents, the officers of the Municipal Corporation have failed to get rid of the menace of dogs.
Municipal Corporation’s Additional Municipal Commissioner Rakesh Yadav said that by running a campaign in the city, ferocious dogs will be caught and sterilised. For this, a dog shelter has also been made near NBT Hospital. An NGO has been entrusted with the task of catching and sterilizing the dogs. In the next day or two, the process of sterilizing the dogs and sending them to the shelter will start.
