During this time, the District Election Officer has, for example, highlighted the case of Anita Singh, wife of Sanjay Singh, in which she had applied to remove her name from the voter list.

How can a voter’s name be removed?

Now the question is how can a voter’s name be removed from the election list? Let us tell you that the process of removing names from the voter list is done strictly according to the guidelines issued by ECI. For this the applicant has to file Form 7. Not only this, in the process of name deletion, intensive field verification is done by Booth Level Officer (BLP), BLO supervisors and other officials as per the prescribed norms. For information, let us tell you that submitting the list for deletion of names does not start the process of deletion of names.

Commission can reject the application

Please note that the Election Commission can reject the application for deletion of names. Actually Form 7 applications can be rejected after due process and field verification. Because each application is individually scrutinized and if found invalid then it is rejected on merit.

Application to remove name of deceased

Let us tell you that if a person dies, then Form 7 has to be filled to remove his name from the voter list. After this, the booth level officer verifies when the person has died. After which they declare the person dead and forward the file. If during this time they do not get the correct information, then the application is canceled.
