Mukherjee Nagar area is mostly in a bad condition due to lack of maintenance. Apart from this, stray dogs have made walking difficult. The fear is such that local residents hesitate to go out. At the same time, people complain that sewer water is overflowing in the streets here. Due to this, people have to face problems in commuting. On the other hand, there is encroachment of street vendors on the main roads. Due to this there is traffic jam here.
All these problems were put forth by the local residents in the Amar Ujala Samvad program on Saturday. Local residents say that due to lack of cleanliness, there are heaps of garbage at many places inside the park. Not only this, due to lack of water the trees in the park have started drying up. Local resident Dr. Veena Gautam said that many trees were planted to keep the park green. Due to lack of water they have started drying up.
Joint Secretary, Mukherjee Nagar Apartment Association Pawan Kumar Sharma said that cutting of trees is not taking place. Due to this the stems have reached the houses. At the same time, street vendors have encroached. Due to this, even walking on the footpath has become difficult. Coaching institutes have also ignored the rules and regulations. Due to this people have to face problems.
Local resident HS Kohli said that there is a big problem of water. Firstly, water does not come on time. Even if it comes, it is smelly. Complaints have been made to Delhi Jal Board from time to time, but till now no improvement has been seen. Local resident Ajay Kumar Malhotra said that the park is a major place for strolling for the colony residents. The park is in poor condition due to lack of care. No attention is being paid to this.
Local resident Meena Konyal said that there is a fear of abandoned dogs in the area. Complained to the corporation many times but no one is there to care. Small children do not go out to play, the situation is so bad. There should be a solution to the problem of destitute dogs. Local resident Kanchan Kapoor said that sewer water is overflowing in the colonies. Due to this, people have to face problems in commuting. Snatchings also happen every day. In such a situation, it is important to pay attention to the security here also.
