The boat overturned in the middle of the stream during a walk on the Bidhar Ghat of Saryu river on Wednesday. 12 people drowned in the river were saved, but two teenagers, including an 8-year-old girl, were swept away in the water. After the local divers, the SDRF team reached and conducted a search operation in the river, but nothing could be found till late evening. Now the search operation will go on again on Thursday. ADM Dr. Sadanand Gupta also reached there and took stock.
Bidhar Ghat of Jahangirganj police station area became witness to a major accident on Wednesday. Everything was fine here till morning but after 10 o’clock the scene changed here. After the marriage of the son of Israr, a resident of Bidhar Ghat, there was a feast on Wednesday. A large number of relatives arrived. At around 10 in the morning, a team of youth and children went out for a walk towards the Saryu river flowing at a little distance. Seeing the boat moving here on the banks of the river, those people also made up their mind to take a walk in the river.
After this, when the boat moved towards the stream of the river, it overturned only after going some distance. The teenager driving the boat survived by jumping but 15 youths, teenagers, teenagers and children drowned in the water. Meanwhile, relatives and local people who reached there saved the lives of 12 people by jumping into the river, but Gulzar (13), daughter of Saeed, resident of Newari Durajpur, Jahangirganj, Neda (8), daughter of Mahmood, resident of Rasulpur, Tanda Kotwali, and Phulpur, resident of Tanda. Saleem’s daughter Saliha (13) drowned. SO Jahangirganj Pradeep Singh, who reached the spot, called three divers from Basti district and started the search operation. Meanwhile, SDM Saurabh Shukla, CO RP Singh also reached. Seeing the serious condition, ADM Dr. Sadanand Gupta also reached there. The officials decided to call the SDRF team. After this the SDRF team which reached from Gorakhpur started the search operation but nothing could be found till late evening.
Four youths became angels
When a heart-wrenching incident took place on Wednesday at Bidhar Ghat, four youths among the people present there became angels for 11 drowning people. His patience and courage played an important role in giving new life to those people. Everyone was praising the bravery of Bidhar residents Lalchandra, Angad Nishad, Rakesh Kumar and Pawan Kumar. Seeing the boat overturning in the middle of the river, the people present on the shore were finding themselves helpless to help. At the same time, these four youth took the risk and saved the people drowning in the river one by one. The bravery of the youth took out 12 lives from the mouth of death.

The insistence of forced travel became heavy
The insistence of taking a boat ride in the Saryu river overpowered the people. It is said that the relatives who had reached the wedding of the son of Israr Ahmed, a resident of Bidhar, went for a walk on the Saryu river flowing by the side on Wednesday. There, Ankur (13) and Ravi (12) were roaming on the banks of the river sitting in a boat on the ghat. In the meantime, these people reached Ankur and Ravi and started insisting that they take them on a boat and take them for a tour of the river. Both the teenagers refused to sit on the boat. But when those people insisted on bringing the boat to the shore, Ankur got down from the boat and went to tell his family members. After this a total of 15 people boarded the boat. Ravi started moving towards the river with the boat. On reaching the middle stream of the river, the boat started becoming uncontrollable. Ravi, who was driving the boat, got scared because of this. He jumped into the river from the boat and swam across the river. After this the boat overturned in the river.

lost hope of survival
Bidhar resident Intezar Ahmed (20) also drowned after the boat capsized. Told that a few moments had passed while boarding the boat that everyone was excited. Suddenly the boat started rocking. Everyone got scared as soon as the boat became uncontrolled in the middle of the water. Where people were happy, there was shouting. By the time we could understand anything, the boat overturned and we started drowning in the river. The hope of survival was broken amidst the strong surge of water. I will be thankful to the people who saved me for the rest of my life.
Family happiness shattered in a moment
For the last several days, an atmosphere of gaiety and happiness was going on at the house of Israr Ahmed, a resident of Bihar. There was a lot of happiness in the family due to the marriage of son Riyaz. All the relatives were also gathered. A day earlier on Tuesday, the procession also returned with laughter and happiness.
