Recently Sanjay Gupta remembered the time when he was narrating the script of Kaante to Amitabh Bachchan. He told that Amitabh was not his first choice for Kaante. He wanted to make that film with newcomer and Naseeruddin Shah. But when he narrated the script to Sanjay, Sanjay liked it very much and asked him to work in the film. It was Sanjay Dutt who suggested Amitabh Bachchan for the role.
How is the party inside?
Sanjay told in a podcast, ‘Sanjay Dutt called Amit ji and asked if I could narrate the film. They set up a meeting for 11 a.m. two days later. I was very nervous and reached at 10.55. Two guards came there and asked me to park the car. He also gave me directions. I reached the compound and climbed the stairs. I saw black and white pictures of Amitabh Bachchan. As soon as you reached the second floor, he took you to a well furnished room. There I sat on a sofa and was asked to have food.
He further said, ‘After this suddenly a door opened from behind and a big figure in white Pathani appeared and he took me to another room. He said he would come in 5 minutes. I knew that Big B was interested in high-tech sound systems, speakers and gramophones. He uses more than 50-60 speakers in his house. There was a mug on his desk, which had 25-30 designer pens in it. After this I started the narration. He was sitting with a straight face. I was a little nervous.
