Amrish Puri left this world years ago. However, he is still alive in the hearts of people due to his films and excellent acting. His strong voice, tall stature and excellent acting used to win everyone’s heart. He was born on 22 June in the year 1932. Today is his 92nd birth anniversary. Amrish Puri was suffering from myelodysplastic syndrome. His son told in an interview to ‘Filmfare’ that in the year 2003, while shooting for the film ‘Jaal the Trap’, Amrish sahab had an accident. He was seriously injured. He lost a lot of blood. Then he was given a blood transfusion. There was some problem there.
Amrish Puri’s son Rajiv had told that, “It started with weakness and less appetite. When he came to know about his illness, he was shaken. But he had strong willpower. He wanted to present a strong side to the world.”
He further said, “Dad was anxious. His illness was detected in 2003 and till 15 December 2004, he completed all his films- Kachchi Sadak, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Hulchul, Kisna and Aitraaz despite being unwell.”
Rajiv also told about his father’s last words. He said in the interview that when he asked his father how he was feeling, Amrish Puri said, “I am better than yesterday.” Rajiv told that then one day he fell down at home and he died on 12 January 2005.
