Puls is the main food of Indian plate. But it is liked in different ways in every state. Be it UP or Bihar, Gujarat or Maharashtra, everywhere dal is made with different twists. Today we are going to tell you the recipe of Amritsari dry lentils. Apart from being full of Punjabi taste, it is also quite nutritious. To make this you need urad dal, ghee, spices and lemon juice. You can eat this delicious dal with roti or paratha in lunch or dinner.
Ingredients for Amritsari Dry Dal
1 cup urad dal
1 Onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
2 green chillies, finely chopped
1 teaspoon cumin
1/ 2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala
Salt as per taste
2 big spoon oil or ghee
Fresh coriander for garnishing
1 spoon lemon juice
How to make Amritsari dry dal?
1 . Wash the lentils thoroughly and cook in a pressure cooker with three cups of water until they become soft and mushy.
2. In a separate pan, heat oil or ghee on medium flame.
3. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
4. Add finely chopped onion and green chilli. Fry the onion until it turns golden brown.
5. Mix turmeric powder, red chili powder and garam masala. Cook for a minute so that the spices release their flavour.
6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and oil starts separating.
7. Strain the cooked lentils and put them in the pan.
8. Let the dal boil. Keep on low flame for 5 minutes, so that the flavors mix together. Add salt as per taste.
9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and lemon juice. Your Amritsari dry dal is ready to serve!
