AMU Minority Status AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi Targets Modi Govt Says Hate Against Muslim Shown

Asaduddin Owaisi On AMU Minority Status: Asaduddin Owaisi has reacted to the Central Government’s decision to withdraw the minority status of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). During this, he accused the Modi government of hating Muslims.

All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief said, “Modi government is opposing giving minority status to AMU saying that it is a national institution, whereas Article 30 of the Constitution protects any institution established and administered by minorities on their own. Protects.”

He said that AMU has been a minority institution since the beginning. It has contributed a lot to the development of India. Modi government’s hatred towards Muslims is visible to everyone. The government cannot tolerate Muslims from getting higher education and joining the mainstream.

Center presented its stand in the Supreme Court
His statement has come at a time when the Supreme Court heard the minority status case of AMU on Tuesday (January 9). During the hearing, the central government told the court that the Supreme Court had said in the Aziz Basha decision of 1967 that the university cannot ask for the status of a minority institution and the stand of the previous government regarding the minority status of AMU was against this decision.

To reverse this decision, the Central Government amended the AMU Act in 1981. However, in 2006 the Allahabad High Court canceled the amendments of the Central Government. After this, the AMU administration and the then Congress government challenged the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court.

Center had withdrawn support in 2016
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Central Government, told the Supreme Court that AMU was neither established by the Muslim minority nor was it administered by the minority. Let us tell you that in the year 2016, the Central Government had withdrawn its support for minority status to Aligarh Muslim University.
