Shri Krishna said – Anant is the form of Lord Shri Vishnu. During the Chaturmas (Chaturmas 2024), Lord Vishnu sleeps in Anant Shayyan on the bed of Sheshnag. On the advice of Shri Krishna, Yudhishthira along with his family observed the fast of Anant Chaturdashi and worshiped Anant Dev. Why do we tie a 14 knotted thread on Anant Chaturdashi?
There is importance of tying a thread with 14 knots in the worship of Anant Chaturdashi. It is made of silk or cotton, which is tied on the arm. This thread with 14 knots is considered to be a symbol of 14 forms of Vishnu Ji (Anant, Rishikesh, Padmanabh, Madhav, Vaikunth, Shridhar, Trivikram, Madhusudan, Vaman, Keshav, Narayan, Damodar and Govind). After the creation of 14 worlds, Lord Vishnu appeared in these 14 forms for its maintenance and protection.
