Lekhpal Soran Singh posted at Edalpur Halka of Tehsil Khair was continuously demanding 20 thousand rupees from Bengali farmer of the same village for giving correct report of Gram Sabha land. The farmer had complained to the Anti Corruption Team about the bribe being demanded in this matter. The team laid a trap and planned to catch the Lekhpal red handed.
The victim farmer was given 15 thousand rupees with transparent powder on it and sent to give it to the Lekhpal. As soon as the Lekhpal took the money from the farmer and held it in his hand, the team caught him red-handed on the spot. The Anti-Corruption Team first took the accused Lekhpal to Lodha police station. Where he was interrogated for several hours. After this, a report was filed against the Lekhpal. The team took him directly to the office in Meerut. SDM Khair Mahima said that information has been received about a Lekhpal being caught by the Anti-Corruption Team.
