Paanch To Release In Theaters: Film director Anurag Kashyap’s most controversial and banned film ‘Paanch’ has finally been given the green signal by CBFC. The film has been approved for release. The film ‘Paanch’, made in 2002, is now finally ready to hit the theaters after 22 years.
In an interview given to Bollywood Hungama, Tutu Sharma gave the good news of getting clearance from CBFC. He said- ‘Five is coming next year. I plan to release it in theaters within six months. The film was banned and the negativity got a bit worse. The process of restoring it has started. As soon as it is ready, we will release five.
‘Paanch’ was canned
Tutu Sharma further said- ‘The issues (with the Central Board of Film Certification) have been resolved. But then we had to face some more challenges. Therefore, the film was canned. Also, now the trend of re-runs is also here. So, one can imagine the potential of five. This is a very excited sign. Apart from this, the times are such that such films are being watched and they also have audiences.
Why was ‘Paanch’ banned?
Let us tell you that the film ‘Paanch’, made under the direction of Anurag Kashyap, is based on the serial murders of Joshi-Abhyankar in Pune in 1976-77. This film was banned by CBFC due to sensitive subject, abusive language and violence. KK was in the lead role in this film, while Aditya Srivastava, Vijay Maurya and Tejaswini Kolhapure were also a part of the film. Now after 22 years, the film has got approval from CBFC and the film can be released next year.
