constitution of india
Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar is called the creator of the Constitution. The Indian Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly in the country on 26 November 1949. After this, the Constitution of our country came into force on 26 January 1950. This is the reason why Constitution Day is celebrated every 26th November.
Did Baba Saheb prepare the Constitution alone?
Dr. Bhivrao Ambedkar is considered the creator of the Constitution, because he was the chairman of the drafting committee of the Constitution. Although it is true that the burden of drafting the Constitution fell only on Dr. Ambedkar. TT Krishnamachari, a member of the drafting committee, had said this in front of the Constituent Assembly.
A committee of 7 members was formed for the constitution.
Let us tell you that a committee of 7 members was formed to draft the Constitution. For information, the Drafting Committee had presented the draft before the Constituent Assembly in May 1947. More than 7,500 amendments were suggested in this draft, out of which about 2,500 were accepted. A drafting committee of 7 members was formed to prepare the draft of the Constituent Assembly. The chairman of this drafting committee was Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. The committee members were Kanhaiyalal Munshi, Mohammad Sadullah, Alladi Krishnaswamy Iyer, Gopal Swami Ayyangar, N. Madhava Rao and TT Krishnamachari.
Dr. Ambedkar alone made the draft
At the time of drafting the country’s Constitution, only Ambedkar was present among the 7 members. Let us tell you that this incident has been mentioned by Drafting Committee member T.T. Krishnamachari in the Constituent Assembly. TT Krishnamachari told the Constituent Assembly in November 1948 that due to ‘death, illness and other commitments’ most of the committee members had not contributed adequately to the drafting. Due to this, the burden of drafting the Constitution fell on Dr. Ambedkar.
No one among the 7 members was present?
In fact, out of the seven people who were included in the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly, one member had fallen ill. Two members were outside Delhi, one was abroad, one had resigned midway, while one member had not joined. Not only this, Ambedkar stood in the Constituent Assembly for about 100 days and patiently explained the entire draft of the Constitution and discussed every suggestion.
