Now some reports are saying that Apple is close to launching its first foldable iPhone. The company is working on a foldable iPhone and a foldable iPad with a larger display. Of these, foldable iPhone can be launched first. Its display size will be larger than the screen of iPhone 16 Pro Max and it will fold inwards.
Expected to launch with iPhone 18 lineup
According to reports, the first foldable iPhone will be a clamshell folding device like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola Razr. It is being said that this product can be launched in the second half of 2026. It is being speculated that it may be launched with the iPhone 18 lineup and Apple does not want to delay any further in this direction. The company has given the codename V68 to this project, which shows that this product has moved beyond the prototyping stage.
Work is also going on on foldable iPad
The company is also working on a large foldable device, which can be used as an iPad and when unfolded, its screen becomes approximately 20 inches. After the launch of the foldable iPhone, the company can carry forward the ongoing work on it.
Demand for foldable devices is decreasing
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to halt the ongoing decline in the foldable market. In fact, the foldable device market grew by 40 percent annually between 2019 and 2023, but it is expected to decline by 5 percent in 2024. A sharp decline in sales is expected from next year. Due to this, other companies including Samsung have decided to reduce the production of foldable devices.
